Every session, you can watch short films straight from our Official Selection, followed by a ‘gezellige’ Q&A with the teams. The Sessions are English spoken, and the films are subtitled in English.
After each screening, we interview the team behind the film and get to know more about their process and vision.

THE PERFORMANCE
Claire Zhou | Live-Action | 20’00’’
Lin (41) is preparing her solo song performance for the Chinese New Year celebration at her church. She hopes to impress her community, but according to her mentor, her performance isn’t connecting yet as she seems to be hiding herself. However when rumors start circulating about her son, who has not been to church for some time now, Lin is faced with a difficult choice; will she continue to hide her true self or choose to be open?
MONSTERS
Lotte Salomons | Documentary | 07’18’’
Monsters introduces three children of different origins. The families of Roaa, Zainab and Noe Noe all fled to the Netherlands for different reasons. In a recreated bedroom, the three girls draw and describe their self-invented fantasy monster Cappi Don Liii in their own way. They reflect on the monster and themselves and look for similarities between the world of the imaginary monster and the real world. Through the monster they talk about happy and less joyful memories, about growing up in an asylum seekers center and about the power of their friendship and fantasy.
